We had a GREAT show and it's because of you that we made it through to the semifinals.
Now I know that a great many of you could not make it and that's okay. We're gonna need you twice as much for the next round.
My co-vocalist, amadea gave me a fun hairstyle tonight. Is it too 'cute'? I think not. I'm breaking out of goth mode lately and into fun mode.
It was all about fishnets and a silver shiny dress.

Please come out to the Note tonight to support my band, Rachael's Surrender, in the International contest "Emergenza".

I'm the singer and violist. The music is fun fun fun!
2 female vocalists, guitar, bass, synth and viola.

This is the first round. Tonight there are 8 bands competing. The top 4 bands will go to the semifinals.
Top bands are determined but an AUDIENCE VOTE. That means we NEED you to be there.

Rachael's Surrender plays first -- so please be there at 7:30pm.

RS show -- THANKS!

It was Chicago's biggest blizzard and we had a full house. I couldn't believe it.

Thanks to everyone who showed up, notably anditron and theevilchemist .

To those of you who didn't show up, THANK YOU for keeping yourself safe at home. If I wasn't playing, I wouldn't have been out of the house either!

It took me 20 minutes to get a cab home. When I got in the cab, the driver told me "if you live on a side street (which i do) I can only take you to the corner." I was horrified. I had high heels, my viola and 2 heavy bags with my effects and makeup. I told him, "I can't physically carry all of this stuff, even if it were perfect weather."After much begging I fake cried (which was borderline real) and gave him 20 bucks and he did take me to my door. The poor guy got stuck on my street a couple of times. Seriously, if he didn't take me home, I guess I would've gone to Hollywood Grill and called surrender for a ride since he was still at Subterranean.

It was a FULL day. Yesterday was busy at work, then at 3:30, the opening band called me to cancel, then I had to get to Subt by 6:30 for soundcheck. Snowstorm, etc...

I consumed so much red bull that when I got home, my mind was wide awake but my body was dead tired.

Despite all of the hurdles I honestly had a GREAT time. I really really did. amadea looked and sang beautifully in the RS set. surrender kicked ass with his guitar parts and Michael's bass technique and overall energy sealed the deal.

The Greenscare put on a super fun set and the crowd was into it.

Today I'll be cleaning the house and tomorrow I have to go to work and then it's an afternoon at the gym.

It's good to have a nice warm home with beautiful friends.

This morning Sarah Quarrie and I are thinking about our new business. It's a bar called "the good ones".
Clients will have to go through a rigorous screening process. Here are the criteria:

-- Must reside in Chicago
-- Must be literate
-- Must have an artistic side
-- Must be attractive. Attractive is determined by me and Sarah Quarrie
-- Must be between the ages of 26-42.
-- Cannot be married more than once
-- Can't like the Cubs
-- Must be able to write 3 literate and interesting sentences that don't contain the word "dawg" or "what up G"
-- No ex-boyfriends

After determining this criteria we realized that only about 8 people we know can get in...and some of them don't even drink. It's a money losing venture.

Tonight I'm making an appearance at the myspace party. Afterwards???? Undecided.

Tomorrow RS practice followed by absolutely no plans.

Sunday I'm going to a film screening for a movie that I'm in! In fact, I'm one of the leads. The film, Space Daze, just got picked up by Troma Pictures (best known for Toxic Avengers movies). I play a news reporter. Corey Feldman is also in the film. It will be released on video nationwide April 2005. I'm excited about this but nervous. Seriously, this movie is ELEVEN years old! I don't even look like the same person. It's campy as can be.

I'm definitely coming out of this week in a better state that I was going in...

I'm back from tour.

It was a wonderful, yet exhausting experience.I'll share some of my highlights alongside Sam's commentary from the Projektlist:

Saturday Oct 23 - The Batcave in New York City
This was a far better experience then I expected. In the past, the sound has been a struggle for bands at this venue, but the soundman did an excellent job with us, and the energy was really positive. We did all of our material but people wanted more.... so Bret and Bart did "Space Oddity;" people still wanted more so Bart launched into "Bela Lugosi's Dead" which I've never heard Bret sing before.

-- This was a great show. Not a huge turnout but fun people. My NYC buddy, Lawrence Lewittin showed up along with my old bandmate Lawrence McCalpin.

Sunday Oct 24 - Grape Street in Philadelphia

Lovely venue and amazing sound system. Everyone was really nice. Took a photo with twins Erika and Erin, fans who came out to the show on their birthday. Seeing a band you love on your birthday, that sounds like fun! One of the opening bands had a Theramin.

-- This show did have a great sound system but the crowd wasn't very enthusiastic. It was good to see Patrick Rogers there, but not many people showed up.

Monday Oct 25 - Nokturnal in Providence
Our promoters were so great. Everything was taken care of for us, we had great Indian food and a great show. The audience made us felt so loved with their shouting and clapping. Providence has a small scene, but clearly they loved that we were here to play for them! Nicki Jaine opened up and stunned everyone with her sad and moving songs. She performed a new track. We were hanging out in the room, talking with people, wandering about, having fun. Bret, Bart and Jason were talking about going to the venue next door, where they had an open band night, to perform a few Audra songs! he sound system was very crisp, the monitors were good, so I could really hear what everyone was playing. Bret accidentally introduced "Remnants of a deepr purity" as being written in 1906, and the folks up front were dancing to "Tarnished" (thanks to Dax and his friends for making us feel so appreciated).... The promoters invited us to come back and play anytime..... too bad the band lives so far away, or we could come back in a few months.......

-- Possibly my favorite show of the tour. I really liked the energy in Providence. The crowd was excited. I danced to

blackcelebrator 's set a bit. Everyone was so so nice....and they make a mean martini there!!!

Tuesday Oct 24 - The Middle East in Boston, MA

Nice to be in the home state of the next President of the United States. Great meal at the Middle East (they're also a middle eastern restaurant, imagine that!). A bunch of friends show up (Hi to Constantine, Tony and Laura) and watch us work our way through technical difficulties with the sound system. I guess it's a sign of our preparedness that the problems don't really hurt the show too much, the songs sound as good as ever! The stage was small, and Bart's amp was closer to Jason and I tonight, thus we could clearly hear what he was playing for the first time. Nice stuff! Bret and Elysabeth soar on their songs, and charm the audience during the points when cables had to be fumbled with and DIs had to be slapped around. The audience was loud and enthusiastic. A good time....

-- Seeing Constantine and DJ Arcanus just simply made my night. Those guys are both so nice and adorable. i wanted to take them home with me to hang out in Chicago. There's just not enough time to spend with friends on tour.

Thursday Oct 26 - Nation in Washington DC

Long drive down to DC, but pretty countryside. The Nation is a massive club, probably able to hold 2000 people. We were on the stage in the smaller room, but that was still quite massive. Lots of people to talk with, some of which we have known for many years. Overnight drive towards Dayton Ohio quickly burns most memories from our brains...

-- By far, the nicest venue of the tour. The Nation is huge. The soundman did a good job and was friendly to talk to...despite that he said i smelled like his exgirlfriend! Haha. Helena Alien joined us as merch mistress at this point. She's a good friend of Nicki Jaine. Bart took off his pants in the van about 5 minutes after Helena joined us. That Bart loves to make a lasting impression!!!

Friday Oct 27 - Revolution in Dayton, OH

One never knows what to expect when getting to a venue in a "small town." We had heard good things about the Dayton scene, and we were not let down! The room was big and there were a lot of people dancing and enjoying themselves and getting into opening band Hungry Lucy and Projekt's own Audra. Bret, Bart and J. ran through a fantastic set. Black tape was on around 1 am and we played for the appreciative crowd.

-- Another one of my favorite shows. I loved the energy of the crowd. I adored Hungry Lucy's set. Ian and Shea from Projekt were there too. Me, Bret, Bart and J danced to many many songs. I'm feeling like an adopted sister to the boys. I'm loving this. I also met a girl named Callie who I will probably see from time to time in Chicago. Good times.

Saturday Oct 30 - Pittsburgh, PA

Our promoter Alex's band ThoughShaltNot opened first. Their music reminded me of Depeche Mode. I, Parasite was next with an agressive hard-edged sound that reminded people of Nine Inch Nails. At the end of the set, their electronic drum set sort of broke apart, and their equipment rack fell over onto the drummer. Nobody was hurt and thankfully it didn't fall over on my stuff! The promoter's caterer (a fan) brought really great vegetarian pasta, and there was yummy cupcakes, and all the food we asked for on the rider. It's always nice when the food and juice and such is there. There were cute little plastic spiders and dinosaurs, and being so close to Halloween, there was tons of chocolate around. We were still really tired from not getting enough sleep the last few days, but it was nice to see Shikhee from Android Lust at the show, looking lovely in a refined Asian/Indian dress. This was an extremely early show, we went on at 8:50. We're incredibly tight on the material now, we run through it and bulldoze over the sound problems. I've already described the obnoxiously loud audience which hurt some people's experience, but we signed a bunch of autographs and talked with really cool fans.

We got out by 10 and went back to the hotel. After loading the equipment back into the rooms, Bret, Bart, Elysabeth and J crashed a wedding reception at the hotel where they were treated like members of the family, danced with the bridal party, and were amazed by the quantity of Huey Lewis and the News performed by the cover band. J says he's never seen so many drunk people in one room (I just asked him for more details on this, and J says that there were a lot of older guys in their 50s, who seemed like they lived boring desperate lives and this was their one chance to cut lose, but they were still pathetic. A bit too drunk, head lolling to one side, saying "What are you guys gay? You've got these beautiful women here...." refering to the 50 year old women in the room that the old codgers thought our band members should be chatting up). Bart comments that the room had "no flavor" (a phrase invented at a Chinese restaurant in Portland, when Bart sent his food back to have "more flavor" added to it - in a Christopher Walken voice: "This has no flavor. Can you guys add more flavor to this?" This being the same restaurant where Bret found a roach in his food). Elysabeth danced with the Shakira-lookalike from Grand Rapids Michigan and says it was a good time, regardless.

-- Sam really summarized the night well. We stayed at a really nice hotel and we were bonding more than ever. I danced with the 'locals' at the wedding reception and had a festive time. We all enjoyed having a nice breakfast at the hotel in the morning...which was a sweet luxury at this point in time...

Sunday Oct 31 - Richmond, VA

In Richmond, we meet our promter Rick at the John Marshall hotel where he has three rooms booked for us. We step into the Southern equivalent of The Overlook from Steven King's The Shining. The hotel is about to have a $14 million renovation, so it's technically closed. This is a massive 14 story hotel built in 1929, once a beauty but now completely empty, not a staff member or guest to be seen. It smells like 50 years of water damage and mildew in certain spots. We bring our personal stuff up to the rooms, and get ready to go to the show. The venue is upstairs at an Irish pub, we're here to play the 10th anniversary of Rick's night, Revelations. We are faced with some technical obstacles because of the limited sound system, but the band decides to soldier on, and make it work! We end up playing almost our entire set acoustically (ie: without my electronic backing tracks). Elysabeth plays the viola out in the audience. This is Halloween, the last night of our tour, and fans have driven a long way to see us -- so we make it special! As we perform, one fan - Arthur - sings all of the songs to himself in the front row. During the encure, when Bret strums the first chords of "Your love is sweeter than wine" (off HALO STAR), Arthur begins singing the song out loud.... Elysabeth offers him the microphone, but he's too shy to do a duet. Nicki does another moving rendition of "All tomorrow's parties," the Audra portion of the band perform "Bela Lugosi's Dead." I am watching from the audience and Bret gets the room to sing "Happy Birthday," as my birthday is Nov 4...... After the show, Arthur hangs with us as we load our equipment, dueting with Bret and Elysabeth on a good portion of the black tape catalog. He knows the words to every song!!!

-- I was really sad to be ending the tour. The night gave me many mixed emotions. I was sad to be leaving. I was thrilled to be on my way home. I was happy to have spent time with Helena Alien. I was grossed out by the moldy Shining Hotel. I was stunned by the charm of the Shining Hotel. I was scared by the haunted feel of the Shining Hotel. Here's some history about the hotel:

We played in the grand ballroom at 4am in the dark. I don't think the ballroom has been used for over 20 years. Breathtaking.

It has occurred to me that I only like posting here when I'm in a good mood.
Well, my friends, I'm really cranky today and I don't want to be awake.
I have a migraine. I spilled my latte all over my desk.
Fortunately, a lovely co-worker replaced it for me.
He doesn't know how much that meant considering how fragile I'm feeling.
